BUT SO WHAT IF I SIMPLY SHOOT?
Wednesday, July 28, 2004
It’s 10 hours to my test, and I can’t seem to focus on getting started with my books.
What is this. A blessing or a curse? The last thing I’d like to hear at the moment is any comment that implies that I’m too foolish to not consider any other way to get around it. As much as I’d hate to hear such comments, I’m still tempted to wonder. Can it be that I’ve made a bad choice from the start?
Maybe they were right. An ordinary life is the way to go. I’ve seen how nicely people turn out in life, by just living normal, ordinary lives. In fact, they fare even better in the long run, those who live in a state of equilibrium, just doing their own thing. They still get to live complete lives. They are actually better off that way.
Plain Janes and Jolly Joes have it best. They have no idea what they have, that others would crave for or covet after. Some envy the idea to be like them. They have something that some people don’t have, or can’t afford to have: The freedom of living a simple life. They don’t get blamed when things aren’t going right. No fingers are pointed at them when things are going wrong. They don’t have to feel obligated or guilty towards things that are not theirs to worry about. They don’t have to have more things on their mind than they wish to have. They don’t have to remember too many things at once, or risk forgetting things that are more important in life. They don’t have to miss spending time with people that matter the most.
And after a long time, when you’re not looking, you might stumble upon a Plain Jane who has a castle that she can call her own. Or you might meet a Jolly Joe who has already established his kingdom. And you might be the one who still has nothing to show. You, of all people, who once thought you had it all.
Just had a phone call from home. At least, one area of my life is starting to look a little brighter for a change. God is still good, by the way.
Test tomorrow? What test? I’m gonna sleep on it tonight... Plain Joes rock.
